Was a great one! Only 4 shooters out so the guns were getting a workout. Been a fee years since I've duck hunted and with zero trap experience and only a little fun clay shooting in my life I was a bit nervous.

Shot a 19 on the first round with a IM choke, switched to the bottom barrel of the o/u which is IC and couldn't find where the pattern was going(new to me gun and new to over unders, that's my excuse) Dismal display with a 9/25.

Third round back to the top barrel but being a field model I think the gun got a little hot and the extractor got stuck a few times. Could have also been ammunition as it was cheapo winchester rounds. An OK 15/25 was the end of the night.

This post was to pose the question. Is it advisable to use my pump (wingmaster) for trap (selectable chokes) vs a field model o/u with fixed chokes of IM/IC? I questioned if I should put 1000 rounds through the Beretta s56 I have this year knowing the wingmaster will eat it up no problem although the Beretta fits like a glove.

Most folks use a full choke for trap - your IC experiment showed why. The Winchester promo loads are notorious for sticking. I would have no hesitation to use the pump with a full choke, and save the Beretta for field use. (Cant get parts for those models any more...)

Shoot the Wingmaster with a full or IM choke until you really get into it. Maybe try the Beretta for doubles. Shoot the IC barrel first. Bottom line is to pattern your guns and know where they shoot and how they fit you. Once you know where the gun is shooting everything else will fall into place.

I shoot mainly skeet but trap is fun once in a blue moon.
I was breaking 20 with a 20g modified choke. Then tried a citori with a imp mod and light full for doubles. I think I would prefer to shoot doubles over single trap because, for me, it's more fun.

Given your options I'd use the pump with an IM or F choke.
