FITCO Futong Scopes 50% off

Used the search tool a few times and have read a lot of negatives. At one time, I had thought about plopping one of these on my shorty AR, just for plinking at the range. But given the rough ride these things got here on CGN, I'm not sure even the sale makes it worthwhile.

At the risk of creating another 'reviews' thread, is the AR3-9x422 (3-9X42C) flat top combo for $41 (sale price) worth a try? I see they're sold out of illuminated 3-9x42Ls.

my report

But are they any good? :runaway:

well, i can answer your question.

i ordered a several items yesterday and was able to pick it up today, no shipping charges, paid pst and gst, i understand by mail there is a $10 shipping charge per order.

i ordered no scopes, not bcos of poor reviews by fellow CGNs but bcos i have a couple of them on route to me from elsewhere .

what i ordered: 1 of sks scope mount, 2 sets of rings and 2 pair of lens cover.

firstly, the sks scope mount comes with fixed rings at a glance it appeared what i paid was a exceptionsl deal, $9.50 but when it came to installing it on my sks , well, it wont go in, the front end is a tad wide, after filing and fitting for half an hour , it fits perfectly , locks well, i might point out the metal is softer than original so filing is easy.

if you are not up to doing additional work then i would recommend you skip this mount, otherwise its down graded to a good deal from exceptional. you wont find it cheaper elsewhere. i have yet to try it out on the range.

secondly, they have ring size of 1" and 30mm of various heights with bases that will fit 3/8 and weaver. for $4.75 per set of 2 , ok quality, works fine, this in my opinion are a good deal for the price you are paying.

lastly , the lens covers for $6.50 for a pair, they dont appear to be well made, just snap shut cover, i have seen these offered for airsoft so i recommend you avoid.

my total tab is $36.16 and it didnt break the bank.:D:D:D

I bought some scopes. We will see. I was thinking the AR gooseneck mount for $13 is a bargain. You can mount a scope and on the side rails, a lamp of something.

You actually want this.
Hand fitting this type of reciever mount is the best way as the tighter you make it fit the less change in bullet point of impact when you take it off to clean the rifle.
If it flops around so will your scope.:runaway:

i prefer not have to file it cos i could have just as easily screwed it up by over filing one side.

at $9.50 and no returns allowed, i had no choice so i was willing to take that chance.

besides , what i thought was a perfect fit may still have wandering POI at the range.

They are decent scopes. They are the same as the leapers/barska/tasco/marstar optics ect. All made in the same factory. These are just quite a bit cheaper. I have 7 fitco scopes, mostly use them on my .22's, but have a 3-9x42 with bullet drop comp mounted to my junker norinco SKS. They work well and are decent optics. With the 50% off coupon they are a steal, I have a few of the side focus 3-12x44 mildot target turret scopes coming, 50 bucks can not be beat!

I just ordered a couple; a 4x16 30mm side focus, and a 6-24 side focus for 143.00 tax/shipping. They look great from the outside and so/so when you look through them. The 6-24 seems very clear except for the 2 glue drops in the bottom right quadrant. For 60.00 I'll find something to use it on . The 4x16 is OK I have one already on a Savage 17 HRM. They are a good deal for the money but realize that the quality is not NA or European. I am waiting for the day when the quality improves at a similar price.

They sent me a few to try back in 2002 for free... A 3-9X 44 "Compactor"
Named for its compact size, but I think it was a sign of things to come. (as in into the garbage compactor)
I gave it away to a buddy of mine who sold it.
I also got a 2.5X pistol scope from them that was better than a 2X20 tasco, but far behind even a bushnell trophy 2.5X LER scope...
50% off a piece of crap is still 49% more than I would pay for what I have used.

A few years ago, I had bought 2 Fitco scopes (a compact model for my sks and a 3-9x42 (I think it was) with bullet drop compensator) thinking they were a bargain.
As someone mentioned already, you get what you pay for.
The compact scope that I had bought for my sks had a very short eye relief which certainly caught me off guard when I 1st used it. The glass was horrible also.
The variable scope with the compensator was absolute junk. The glass had so much aberration and parallax and the distortion was so bad that it was next to impossible to shoot accurately.

I have one of their 6-24x illuminated on my Stevens .223. Got it a while back on another 50% off deal just to see if I would like the 24x power. So far so good and I don't think I will be changing it out for a "better" scope as was planned. Doesn't take much of a beating on the .223 so I can't say much for durability. Hell, even the lumed reticle isn't half bad :). As many have said though you get what you pay for and I wouldn't have been supprised or brokenhearted if it turned out to be a complete POS.

I ordered a 2-7 for my .22, should be alright as I don't shoot it a lot anyway. For $22 I'll take my chances.

is it clear enough to see your bullet holes in the target at 200m? i was thinking of picking one up and if it packs it in i will have at least a cheap spotter . it too would also be going on a stevens 223.
