Fitco scopes?

I've got 2 of them. One 4-12 on a .22 and a Soviet repro on a Mosin Nagant. Both are pretty good. They are nice and sharp, adjustments are crisp and regular. I would compare them to NcStar, BSA and Tasco. They are serviceable, cheap scopes. I would not mount one on a rifle I would take out on a hunt of a lifetime. I've never had a cheap scope die on me, but I know the odds are one will at some point, and with Murphy involved, it would be when I had the critter of a lifetime in the crosshairs. I use them only for shooting paper. if they crap out, I go home, toss it and order another one from EBay. I've used cheap scopes out to 600 yds., on everything up to 300 WM, and never had one crap out. That being said, if i ever got back into hunting with a rifle, it would sport top-notch optics.
I use one of the 3-9x ones with the battery but so far haven't had much use for the lighted cross hairs. I have shot several deer with it and it even stayed sighted in being moved from Alberta to Quebec in a U-Haul and sat here for 4 years till I had a chance to go hunting again. I use it on a 30-06 so not a lot of recoil. I put a Armsport scope on a 375 and it never did stay sighted it for very long.
I bought few but have moved most of them on. I found the image to be a bit "milky" as opposed to bright and sharp. There was also a lot of peripheral distortion. A friend bought a rifle with one on it and the turrets wouldn't move the point of impact with any consistency. I sent one back because the reticle could not be brought in to focus.
Life is too short for that sort of frustration, I wouldn't buy another.

I have 2 of the deerhunter line both fixed 4x and 6x. They're clear brite and the 6x tracks great. Its on my 22mag. Haven't mounted the 4x on anything. For $17 they're great. Coming in from -1 degrees to 75 degrees it fogged up slightly but so did my sun glasses
i bought one on the EE a while ago. The seller had a great trader rating, so i'm sure it wasn't broken when he sent it, but it was when it arrived! the mirrors or glass or whatever it is inside were shattered. it was packed very well, but even so canada post managed to destroy it. I agree with claude, don't use them for hutning, but for screwing around at the range they should work fine. I'd stick with bushnell though if i were you. still affordable, but MUCH higher quality in comparison. Just my 2 cents.
I have a FITCO fixed power 2.5x long eye relief on a Win 94 (scout mounted) and it's pretty good. Nice and clear but field of view is rather narrow, but that what you get when you scout mount it forward past the receiver.
I bought a variable 1.4-4.5 and while it does work, it has a smokey coloured glass and blurs when I crank it up to it's highest power setting. Definitely not what I was hoping for.
I think with FITCO there are some models worth buying and others which are just plain garbage. It's a hit and miss situation with them.
My advice too is to go with a Bushnell Banner that is far superior and surprisingly clear for the money.
