I own a cheap semi auto shotgun ($600), and travelling to the range is tough with an overall length of 50.5 inches. It use to JUST fit in my allen soft shotgun case (at 49.5", very tight fit), but the limbsaver I put on added 1 inch to the length, and I cannot shut it fully (though it stays pretty well secure by the zipper, the butt pad is mostly protruding).
I see all the fancy o/u b-guns being unloaded from their factory hard cases and assembled and thought, why not me? It takes 15 seconds to remove/install my semi auto barrel, I just need a proper(ish) sized case that has plick n pluck style foam (or similar) and I could ditch the ill fitting soft case and look like a real shotgunner.
Is there any aftermarket cases out there for guys who want a smaller "broken down" shotgun case similar to a factory O/U case? Most soft cases are too small, and a rifle hard case is a bit overkill for a shotgun that breaks down to 26-30".
