fitting a triad rail on a SA20

So I finally splurged when SFRC had their summer sale and bought a CC SA20. I am in the process of building a C7 clone. Havent handled a C7 in over 7 years. I put on the green handguards and then the triad rail. It did not seem to fit properly. There is a gap at the top where the screw goes through. The rail fit easily on my C8 upper. So I assume there is a different barrel profile and that is why there is a gap. So what is everybody doing. Just leave the gap or are you taking meat off of the rail. If so where does it have to come off. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
 
OK . Not sure it just doesn't want to fit . Strange had no problem on the C8 . Ok I will go back and try again. A bonus question. Where is the N on a N marked C8 butt stock?

Re: the triad. Just tried again. It appears on the SA 20 that the cross member on the front sight that feeds the gas to the gas tube is larger than on the C8 It wont close around it
 
OK problem solved . I have two triads. One has a small Diemaco D and one has a larger Diemaco D . The small D fits no problem the large D does not. Must be a slight difference between the two or maybe one is bent don't know. But it now fits thanks for the help.
