I picked up a AK bakelite grip for my type 81. So far I shaped the top of the grip to fit in the grip socket but the original grip bolt is too short. I'm curious if anyone else have fitted one of these grips and would an AK grip bolt would work.

You'll have to source a new, longer bolt and then cut it to length. IIRC it is a M6 bolt.

Yep, M6 bolt. Found some hex-head bolts for wood joinery (with dowel-nut inserts but I didn't need those) and it worked like a charm.
I put a bake grip on my one Type81 rifle, though I went the 3-D VIDEO'S route of removing most of the grip-joint plate, so as to leave the grip sitting directly against the receiver. Dark plum really looks good.
P.S. I initially wanted to use the original bolt (because screw driving an hour to get a single bolt) by filling the grip with resin, letting it cure, and drilling a deeper seat for the original bolt head rest on. In the end, I just got one through amazon.
