I just received my ambi mag release for my XCR-L today and now have a fitting question = it didn't come with any info.

I removed the old mag release by pushing in the mag release button and unscrewing the left side.

I screwed the new release in but it won't slip into place in the loweer receiver I see the front of the old lever is square and the new lever is rounded.

Do I need to grind away on my lower receiver to get this to fit properly into the receiver or grind the rounded part of the new release square?

Help...

Ordered it months ago from Wolverine.

Actually I ordered so long ago I forgot I had ordered it.

Now if anyone can tell me how to properly fit it I would appreciate it.

Why would you grind a $2500 rifle to fit a $30 part?!
Modify the part, for christs sake. At least if you screw up you didn't ruin the rifle.

Good to see Robarm QA hasn't changed.

Weird, I thought the ambi release was made to be a drop in part on older model rifles.

I agree, if modification is required I'd mod the release and not touch the rifle.

I called Wolfgang @ Wolverine on the way to work this morning = I'm now mailing the newest model round ambi mag release back to him and he is mailing me the square ambi mag release.

:)

Cool, good to know there is a difference and a drop in model for the older versions. Hope it works well for you.

The new square ambi mag release arrived from Wolverine a couple days ago I finally found time to swap it out this morning.

Talk about a simple swap you don't have to take the gun apart at all just push the mag release button in thread the off side assembly out then thread the new ambi in took 30 seconds tops to do.

Works great and I can now pop the mag out with the FAST stock in the folded position.

This was the biggest reason I was looking into the ambi release when I had my XCR. Turned out my fingers were slim enough to activate the mag release with the stock folded but it was still a bit of a pain.

Glad to hear it actually is a drop in, just have to specify revision type. Hope to see some pics soon ;).
