Just picked up a Unissued No.4 Stock for a restoration I am taking on.

I was wondering what is the process that is taken to fit new stocks? Where is wood usually removed?

I want to do this right since its a really nice stock.

Each forend will be just a bit different. I have had some that just slid on with no work. Others require tweeking several times over. The fit will alter poi, trigger pull and a few other odd bits. It's a fun part of the game. I am right now working on an NOS forend that appears slightly warped. That adds another whole dimention
The pdf I linked is part of a whole very good series on working on Enfields.
Have fun
