I have a new Stockys CF VG stock and am trying to fit OEM Rem700 LA bottom metal into it. The bottom metal wants to sit out aprox 1/8” at the rear in order for the swing plate to function. If I force the bottom metal in, then it recesses the rails and the bottom plate can not close. Does anyone know what the fix is for this. I have tryed two different OEM bottom metal, they are in proper form.
Does aftermarket BM fit better or does the smith have to do pillars and make it work in the stock?
Thx Eric

It can be tough to cleanly inlet the bottom metal sitting that proud of the stock without a milling machine

I needed to cut away some anodized aluminum in a place where a Dremil tool was inappropriate. There was too much risk of damage if the spinning bit got away from me, and I needed to do it four times. So repeatability and control were critical. I found a machine tool store in my city and bought a couple of end mill bits for my 3/8" drill press. With a lot of clamps and careful positioning, I was able to beaver off what was in the way. YMMV
