I have a Remington 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD that fails to consistently fire Ball ammo and leaves light primer strikes.

My reloads and Federal GMM are fine, as are Hornady steel match.

Is the fix just a stronger spring for the bolt, and if so does someone know a vendor who sells them?

Many thanks in advance.

Remington's normally hit hard... Easiest fix is stop using that junk ammo... but you can install a heavier spring... show us a picture of your bolt face with the firing pin protruding...

Remove the firing pin assy & clean with naptha/Coleman fuel/lighter fluid & also swab out the internals of the bolt body.

Lightly oil the spring w/ Rem Oil.

Your light firing pin strikes will be eliminated.

Grease the aft surface of each bolt lug.
Grease the firing pin shroud threads.
Grease the forward face of the bolt handle/primary extraction cam surface.
Grease the firing pin cocking cam surface in the aft end of the bolt body tube.

Make sure the bolt is fully rotating to the closed position.

Check for binding on stock screws, the front screw can rub on bolt lug and the rear screw can interfere with the firing pin assembly.
Check for binding on scope mount screws.
Check that the bolt handle is not bottoming out on the stock.

Make sure the tip of the trigger is not contacting the trigger guard.

If a primer was ever pierced...there might be a small piece of primer cup stuck inside the bolt body, physically blocking the firing pin from moving forward.

If the trigger was tinkered with the adjustment screws may have been set incorrectly.
