Fixed chokes

Thinking of getting a Beretta 682 Gold E Trap. As I understand it it comes with fixed chokes. Does anyone know what the diameters are at the muzzle? And would it be possible to have it smithed for choke tubes. The Sporting version has chokes. To shoot the gambit of trap ( 16yd, handicap and maybe doubles) Am I better off with the fixed chokes in the trap?

European gun ???

The 682 Gold E's sold here are Optima bore interchangeable chokes,
top & bottom.

The European Gold E's are either fixed, top & bottom for Trap, or for Doubles Trap a fixed Top & Interchangeable Optima flush chokes for bottom. Both have "flat" ribs.

The European GoldE - X Traps have a "stepped" rib and Interchangeable chokes top & bottom.

For primarily Trap shooting over here, I think I'd stay with the fixed chokes, if that's the way it comes. If you want interchangeable chokes, you'd have to have the barrels miked ... and I'd guess only something like Briley "thinwalls"
(or equivalent) would be a go.

I would want interchangable chokes not fixed chokes and I BB is right. The 682's I have been looking at come with interchangable Optima bore chokes.

The interchangable chokes are good because I for one use a different choke on my first shot in doubles than my handicap.

I don't think there is too much wrong with fixed chokes for Trap. Especially at the 16yd. line. If you pattern the gun properly you should know where you are shooting. I get sick of guy's fiddling with there chokes.

Check the scores from 30 or 40 years ago when fixed chokes were the norm, the scores are not much higher today, if at all , for 90% of the shooters out there.....
