Fixed power 36X?

I am doing research on what to buy for a scope in the spring for the Savage LRPV I am wanting to get in a .223 to get into target shooting from bench and from a bipod. Anyways starting out I will probably be trying anything from 100 yds and out as I get better. So my question is would say a Fixed 36X like the SIGHTRON SII BIG SKY 36X42 BR be too much when shooting at the shorter distances ? Would I be better off with something like the SIGHTRON SII BIG SKY SIDE FOCUS 6.5X20 - 50 or a elite 4200 6X24 - 50 TACTICAL?

I liked the higher power but I also have to have a variable power too. You could use that 36 power but you will find it is a pain in the butt when first acuiring your target. I would suggest the one of the other two you mentioned. Then later on you can make up your mind if you want to go with the 36power.
