Fixing Bad Magazines

I purchased 2 x aluminium GI style magazines from an east coast dealer. They had a mix and match sale for magazines that had cosmetic damage and such. They came in 10 rnd, 20 rnd and 30 rnd, the catch was you didn't get to choose. I was buying iron sights from them anyway so purchased 2 of the cheap mags. I ended up with 1 10 rnd and 1 30 rnd (both pinned to 5) but it seems either the springs are too tight or perhaps the feed lips are bad on both. They are extremely hard to load and don't feed properly. Is there anything to be done? Any tricks to try to get them to work better?
The 10 round floor plate is stamped "ASC NEW BRITAIN CT" and the 30 round mag is stamped "C PRODUCTS DEFENSE, MADE IN USA". Are these just crappy mags and i should eat the loss and lesson learned or does anyone have any bright Ideas, even at the risk of ruining them, as I consider them almost useless ATM

The last bad magazine I fixed was for a Savage rifle... I had sold a new magazine to a customer and it did work well. After fiddling with it for an hour I put it on the chopping block and used an axe. Then I refunded the customer, resharpened the axe and no longer try and fix any magazines nor do I sell them.

OP,
Check the PIN that was installed to make compliant from the Communist New England state to ascertain if it binds the spring & follower.

GI style, but not contract of which both companies manufacture serviceable magazines.

ProMag magazines of any variety are.... JUNK

When some one else is pinning mags with pot rivets, you don't know what length they used, too long could be the problem.
I have worked on a lot of mags, usually pistol hi- standard , colts etc, Good mags can be made to work, crap , not worth the time. But if you can't buy new ones, than it is worth it
