Does anyone know how to fix scratches on plastic. I have couple of light scratches on my Glock frame. I also have few of them on one plastic rifle stock and some of them are bit deep. Maybe up to 1mm. Is there anything I could use to fix it and make it look "like new"? Very fine sand paper, steel wool?

Thanks

I would think Brownells Acraglas would probably work if the scratches are deep enough. You can try to match the colour of the stock or frame with the little black dye packet they include.

I have smoothed burrs and some scratches with heat, although I haven't done it on the frame of a handgun. If you are going to use Acra-Glas, make sure that it has somewhere to grab, otherwise it won't stay put.

I'd leave well enough alone. You can try sanding them out, but molded plastic surfaces never look the same when you start "sanding" into them (difficult to get the same sheen/surface finish that the factory mold leaves behind on the surface). Unless you start applying heat to the plastic, it will almost always come out "fuzzy". Personally, I'd stay away from applying any such heat to a plastic framed firearm. If they aren't too deep and are just cosmetic, leave them be rather than making them worse... Just my $.02...

hsld.

Hmm...epoxy and puddies aside, I wonder how Ptex would fair for these sorts of cosmetic fills.

I'd also leave it alone... best you can do is get some Super Extra Fine Synthetic wool and just buff the scratch a little to blend it in more :)

ANy more attention and you will make it look worse.

strip to bare frame, degrease with acitone, fill excessive scratches with epoxy and allow to cure. Then sand blast frame, apply Armacoat and bake-apply second coat and bake to cure 1 hour 250*f. You can make the worst looking polymer frame look like new,It's just a matter of determination - I have a second Gen glock 22 that I refinished I'll post some pic's if I can find them.
