I bought a nice Marrocchi shotgun last year, the thing shots nice but someone got to it before me and did some interesting things to it.

The main issue with the gun that I cannot seem to be able to fix is some horrible engravings on the reciever. The factory engraving are nice but this last guy decided to add a few person ones in the centre area. Is there any way of filling these engravings, or doing something to make them look better?

The reciever is either nickel platted or stainless steel but I cannot seem to tell and have got different answer from different people.

Thanks,

"...filling these..." Depends on how deep they are. If bubba just scratched them in, they might come out with some polishing. Cloth wheel in a bench grinder and some jeweller's rouge. Eye protection is required.
If they're deep, there's not much that can be done to make them go away. You could try filling them with solder, but you'd likely still see them.
"...nickel plated or stainless steel..." No SS for Marocchi's. The Model 3 is chromed steel. The Model 99 is steel too. Add the W's.

My Marrocchi redates the ones on their site. I will go with chrome steel as a guide. I did think about solder but wasn't sure as to its effectiveness.

They are deep and were done by an engraver. One side says OFAH (Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters) and the other says 1989. If it was done nicely I would leave it, but it looks horrible.

The stock was redone as well using some cheap high gloss plastic type finish, at least that is fixable.
