I treated myself to my first BNIB firearm this xmas and grabbed a T1x on sale. I never was interested in these due to their magazine design and synthetic stock. I knew they shot great, and a 800$ CZ457 didn't excite me since I have a BRNO already. Once I saw you can mod away the whale hump, I was in. I've already modelled the action in CAD so I can mill a stock whenever I want to get around to it.

I've designed and printed the cheek riser (0.7"), milled am extended mag release (aluminum) and now a new mag bottom this weekend! IMO, it helps the aesthetic of it A LOT. What do you guys think?

I'd like to get a 3D scanner on the grip and make a more vertical one.

Lines are from using dynamic layers (0.16-0.24) to save time on the prototype. Real ones would be printed totally at .16

I'd love to see a close-up of the the cheek riser. How is it mounted?

As for the mag-bravo on making something custom that suits you better. I have zero issues with the stock mags however, but chuckle at the way their critics describe them. "whale hump" in this thread, heard it described as; "that 'genital wart' of a magazine" in another. lol

Tough job being a loveable magazine. You're not allowed to look good and feed right at the same time. :) CZ 10rd. 22LR polymer mags come about as close as it gets but damn it-why can't the mag be 1/16" longer so that the last rounds is a little easier to load.

I would be interested to hear more about the cheek riser.

Vertical grip is readily available from Tikka, I have one and it's much better than the original one.

Looks better J
how did the mag release turn out?

Great! I made 2 out of aluminum at work. I still have one as a blank and unshaped. It truly makes the experience so much nicer to shoot. I'm trying to find some Aluminum Black in NS to get a finish on it, or wait until I can sneak it onto one of my works anodizing orders. It may be a while, but until then the sharpie airgun is working.

For now, with double sided turners tape. It held so far in -10* and +10 so it should last.

A wide, flat forend would be nice (wider than the tikka one).
I didn't look too hard, but I don't see a way on how mine can be replaced. Does it actually just slip over? I shoot off a bipod so never felt the need to go wider.

I made mine to be 0.7" of rise, but I just sent one with 0.9" to a fellow user in Alberta. In a few weeks we should be able to hear his take on it.
You can also see the new mag bottom, scope throw lever, and AO wheel. What a change!

I am interested in your comb riser for the Tikka. Can I purchase one from you ?

I made a thread about this but I thought I should post in the existing thread too:

CGN member Jahnj0584 had an ad up in the EE offering to make someone a 3D printed cheek riser for a T1X. I had been using a bunch of cut up mouse pads taped to mine which weren't high enough so this was something I was interested in. He offered to make me one for just the cost of shipping and even did a custom height of 0.9". This is what I received:

It fit absolutely perfectly. It came with stick on pads but even without them it clung to the stock. The height I chose was spot on. Color matches really well and the fine lines from the 3D printing are very tasteful.

I was considering getting a new stock just for the cheek riser but this is all I need and I am very happy with it. I would reccomend it to anyone who is interested and Jahnj0584 says he is looking for ideas for other 3D printed shooting accessories if you have any.

I may finally have a lead on a vertical grip and 2 spare mags this week. I'll make new bases for those (and another as a freeby to anyone who wants to test it) and try to replicate that grip for printing or milling.

Someone asked me about a vamint style comb, and this is where I'm at right now. No use for me, but thought people may be curious. They want to use screws.
