How to remove the flash hider on MP 15-22? I tried to twist it off with my hand but it won't budge. Is there a special trick or way to do it?

I want to install a fake can instead. Will it make my rifle illegal if I remove the flash hider?

I tried google and youtube but no luck.

There is a slight possibility that it might be pinned on and will not simply twist off. It is also possible that it is on REALLY tight like the one that was on my PWS MK110. I needed the services of my gunsmith to get it off. As a side note, I tried one of the Spike's Tactical fake cans, it it totally messed up the bullet trajectory, producing 8-10" groups at 15 metres. Looked cool, but couldn't hit jack with it on the rifle.

How much did you pay to get it remove?

A guy on youtube video use wrench and towel to remove it.

Anyone else has experience with the same type of gun?

Free. He is a good kid! :)
He had to use this funky tool to hold the barrel steady. Even then, he had to put a lot into it to get it off.

Tacticool22.com in the US has barrel vice jaws made for that barrel. Put them around your barrel, clamp them in your vise, and then use a wrench to remove the hider. Maybe spray some lube like WD-40 on and let it soak in for a day first.

can you just use towel covering the flash hider and use regular wrench?

It's basic physics. Application of force to the hider will require an equal and opposite application of force to the rifle barrel.

How are you going to hold the barrel side though? By the polymer (plastic) lower? Probably not a good idea. And just putting the barrel in a vise or pipe wrench risks damaging it. I'd strongly suggest using the right tools or hiring a professional.

There is a special tool on:

or I can use another wrench with towel to hold on to the side barrel?
