Never seen a PAR that looked like that with the open section at the rear of the upper? It looks like a hybrid of the pump and the slide or side action version?

Was wondering the same thing! maybe they build them all on the side action now, if that picture is really representative?

How are these, they have a good reputation?

Troy has a new hand guard coming out soon, but other then that the upper looks the same, I think they have stopped producing the side action model as there seems to be no mention of it anywhere on their website.

They had some issues in the past with fluted chambers bothering some people but they don't do that anymore, then they had some issues with the link between the bolt and the action bars getting deformed over time but when they shifted to the new style foreend they improved that issue.

The only other issue was with the action release breaking on some guns according to an Aussie gunsmith that was selling forged replacements 5 or 6 years ago..... I think most of the issues have been worked out but I can't explain the picture on FOC's website with the slide action upper on a pump action PAR?

Here's a picture from another vendor of the 2023 .308 PAR
The new longer Mlok handguard makes sense as it gives more space ahead of the pump to mount lights and bipods ect.

Dang, nice deal. Anyone ever use Zezzle? lol. Do you have to do it on your cell only? Says Download APP {only} it seems. Didn't seem to work on my PC.

Yeah. What’s up with that slot in the upper receiver? Looks like a spot for the bolt handle on the Troy sar or like a ar180 charging handle cutout or something. The previous rifles weren’t like that. For 308 I wish they also had a 20” option

Troy makes an 18" barrel but you could also swap out the barrel with an aftermarket barrel easily enough if you want a 20".

I looked at that but figured if I got a standard ar10 barrel I’d have to weld up the gas port or thread it for a plug or something. Not many options for a barrel that isn’t pre drilled. What is your take on the opening in the receiver that everyone was asking about and you responded to? In the stock photo it looks like you can see right through the upper where the bolt handle would have been? Just wondering if Troy made significant design changes or it’s a photoshop error

I think someone should call FOC and ask them what's up, or send them a PM..... it makes no sense why the gun would look like that?

There are Cdn manufacturers that make AR barrels with no gas port for the different straight pull guns on the market, and most people seem to be simply reversing the gas block to block the hole.

There is a gunnut here that posted good videos on youtube years ago showing different barrel changes but I can't seem to find them..... maybe he will see this thread and comment?
