Which one is the most functional with the best balance of flash suppression, ease of cleaning/de-clogging, practical useability(sharp edges....weird cuts that hook on stuff) and structural integrity?

I have a bias towards YHM stuff, I really like the looks and quality. I own a both versions of the Phantom, and a set of sling mounts, I'm impressed with all of the parts I have, next will be some Yankee Hill Machine flip up sights for my flat-top AR.

It sucks that we here in Canada are limited in what flash suppressors we can buy, we just don't have the availability that the US has.

They newest Vortex is hands down the best flash hider I've ever used. It may not be the best for compensation but lets face it, if it's 5.56mm were talking then there ain't too much recoil and barrel whip to begin with. The PWS compensaters are nice and they supress some flash but not as well as the Vortex.

Interesting, although I would have liked to have seen the Phantom included. Saw a similar test in the past where the Vortex came out on top and the Phantom a close second, this was a few years ago and they were pretty much your only options then.

I prefer the asthetics of the Phantom 5C1 and personally think it a good all around compromise between flash, dirt kick up, entanglement, etc...

PWS is the best on the market at recoil reduction

The PWS is NOT a flash suppressor. It was tested by BATF and they officially noted that the device is a flash reducing compensator/muzzle break. While it has some flash suppressing ability it does not meet the specifications of a Mil-Spec flash supressor and therefore is officially designated as NOT being a flash suppressor.

It was based on BATF's finding that US State Department officially approved our export permits for these devices.

Having said that... I'll take the PWS FSC556 or FSC308 (flash supppressing compensator) over just about any other choice out there right now. I have no need for flash suppression on my civilian guns or on a civilian range... so what's the point? The FSC556 does help to eliminate muzzle climb and speed follow-up shots... and the sound/concussion blast is really nice (if you like that kind of thing and I do :)).

I went onto the Smith Ent website and the brake that I have is unfortunately just refered to M4/M16/AR-15 muzzle brake though I'm pretty sure it has a better name but from watching the video, the guy ran a full mag through his full auto and he had literally zero muzzle lift which was why I went with that one. It's got the standard holes on the sides but also has holes on top obviously to keep muzzle jump to a minimum. Now that we have a 4th axis milling machine, we're no longer at the mercy of the states and can build anything we want so let's figure out what is most popular amount the guys on the forum and put together a group buy. We're going to get more into muzzle brakes, rails and all that good stuff so let's hear it.
