Sooooooo... new thread!
I'm running a DD M4V5, and as I get more and more involved in training with it, I want to set it up as a total rig; I have hunting set ups, I have pure target set ups, this is pure training/zombie/SHTF madness at its best.
Now while it is a fun gun, I'm keeping it relatively light; no heavy rail, flashlight, handstop, micro RD and BUIS, 2 point sling, and muzzle device and that's about it.
I had an A2 flash hider on it to start, but that was no fun, so I gave it to a friend starting their build. I put a Matador Stinger brake on it (great brake by the way), as I am gravitating towards some night training with this little monster. Then I tried one of the DLASK faux suppressors, not understanding how it was set up; I figured it would thread in at the back, or halfway through the unit, not that the unit was flush with the muzzle (so that it would look cool AND dampen the 4' flame out of the front.
Now I'm back to flash suppressors, and I'm looking at a few but have very little shooting time, or none, on any.
What do you guys and gals recommend?
I was looking at the AAC Blackout with 51t thread, Surefire Socom Warfighter, and I was looking at a KX-5 because of how badass it looks, until I realised once again that it would literally breathe fire downrange.
How serious is the tuning fork effect? Are their stellar flash hiders that don't have it and still look cool, or am I totally wasting my time and I should just find another A2? Thoughts?
Cheers!

AAC Blackout pretty much deletes muzzle flash, which I like. Colt Canada C9 brake/flash hider does a bit of braking and flash suppression. I like practical... I've had others over the years, but these are my two personal favorites. YMMV

I like the SureFire, especially if I was allowed a three round burst or full auto, as it negates that rightward sway as the bolt slams rearward. I'm leaning more towards the AAC despite the tuning fork, as it is a good flash hider and, if I ever do move my ass to the states and get in there, suppressor use! Besides, the look is good.

I have both the AAC blackout & a surefire socom flash hider, both work equally well and the whole tuning fork thing people always whine about is hardly noticeable with ear pro on.
If you want to eliminate the tuning fork concept, go with the silencerco flash hider, 3 prongs all at different lengths looks a little different but no tuning fork noise.

I've yet to convince myself on the surefire warcomp, I love surefires products but it just doesn't seem to do it for me.

Appreciate it, Alpha! I do reaaaally like the look of the AAC and the Surefire, the looks are awesome. As is, I'm still leaning AAC due to cost; if we could run full auto the surefire would be higher, but it seems a little too much.

No worries, if you'd rather a closer look or wanna try it out before buying, I'm always happy to let others dirty up my rifles.

Get an AAC blackout, IIRC it was designed to virtually eliminate flash on short barrels, and I can confirm that with my 10.5 LMT. I strictly use blackouts because they are neutral, they don't push the muzzle down like A2's do (A2's stuck at eliminating flash compared to blackouts anyway).

The tuning fork effect isn't a set in stone thing, I know at least my 10.5 doesn't do it, AT ALL. Maybe it's due to the shorter barrel.

Fox, I do actually appreciate that! I'll PM you, I'm a Trampeder too hahahaha.
Thanks for the feedback! I dearly love brakes but the whole 4 feet of flame is getting old.
Cheers!
