Hello,

I'm looking to replace the stock standard flash hider on my 11.5" AR hearing that an aftermarket one designed in a different manner would help on noise and recoil.

Which models should I look into? I know some of my choices are limited due to the import restrictions of Flash suppressors, but what can I purchase domestically that's the best value? (not looking to spend that much on such a small simple part)

Thanks.

Having owned and used a KX3 on a 10.5, I would say that it does indeed do what it's supposed to. I'd highly recommed it. Only problem is finding one.

I haven't used a KX3, but for a SBR, my money would go on this one. From Pat Sweeney's book: they are favorite of entry teams and SBR users and they also channel noise foward.

KX3 does not reduce flash, if anything it makes it even bigger than the A2 flashider, although it does direct it forward so perceived flash may be reduced. It also directs the noise forward so that it appears to be reduced to the firer, those around you may disagree. I don't have experience with one so take my comments for what they are. A non-issue with hearing protection anyway.

My vote would go to a Vortex or Phantom. Some newer choices south of the border these days but availability up here may be a problem. ETA: these won't reduce noise, but then again, neither do any other options.

The KX3 does a great job at reducing the shock wave to the sides, having stood next to beginner shooters with it and without makes a huge difference on my 11.5" gun. It also 'supposidly' helps with cycling of short barrel guns due to back pressure!!!
