Does anyone know how much do the slip on flashhiders(short and long) add to the OAL of a 10/22.
Thinking about the common short and long versions that tactical inc, brownell, and ect, sell.

Thinking about a folding stock with a 16.5inch barrel. So i may need to add something like them to make the OAL requirement for non-restricted.

Unless the modification is made 'permanent' (usually via welding), it doesn't count towards the OAL of a barrel.

Ridiculous, IMO, but what about our firearms act ISN'T?

Ok, putting a stock on the rifle isn't permanent either. So what's the difference.

So I can't even weld it to the barrel now to make it count? Ugh it's only a factory barrel so I wouldn't of mind doing that if I had too.

Flash hiders count for OAL. Barrel length is irrelevant because its a rimfire. You would still have to permanently attatch it though.

Flash hider counts towards the OAL if its permanently attached. Pinning counts as permanent so dont balk if you cant weld.

The shorter, birdcage style flash hiders will bring to just over 26" with a folded buttler creek stock and a 16.5" bbl.

I believe a "permanent" modification would mean that one needs a tool to undo that modification. The screw that came with the flashhider requires a tool to remove, a hex key. Would that not be permanent?

A distinction needs to be made between OAL and barrel length, true.

if is a butler creek folding stock and 10/22 carbine makes for an overall length of 27 1/4"

(in the folded position)

I got the 16.5 barrel that comes with the compact model.
The standard barrel is 18.5(i think)
So my OAL would be ~25 1/4"

That's really damn close.
