I really want to get a 12.5 barrel Dominion when they become available, and I'm wondering about a flashlight forend for it. This gun is for camping, hiking and bear defense. I figured a flashlight in the forend could be a bonus if bears come prowling in the night! Will the 870 forends fit the Grizzly? Also, is there any that don't have the light portruding too far forward of the actual forend? The one on CanAm looks like the light will stick well past the barrel, and might cause problems.

yes all 870 forends will fit - with a small caveat: on the first generation of Grizzlies, the steel forend tube is a couple thou larger in diameter than the 870... so 870 forends need to have the inside sanded a little bit to fit over them. i wouldnt suggest trying to just force/hammer an 870 forend onto the Grizzly forend tube - the synthetic will probably get stuck, and the wood one will split. it takes a few minutes with some sandpaper wrapped around a wooden dowel or broomhandle - go easy you dont need to sand much.

i am not sure about the second gen Grizzlies since i dont own one -- though i would wager they are the same.

This is my setup, I think it works well, the light dosen't stick out past the barrel and the parts are good quality.

Forend and lightmount from here ht tp://www.zahal.org/ with free shipping.

You could also go this route.

I didn't do it to the gun as I bought it used, but it is a nice way to do it. The light controls are right at your fingertips.

Streamlight TRL1
and a little piece of plastic pic rail.

Another bonus is the streamlight fits on my glock too.

That also looks really good. How about doing the same thing with a weaver scope base, and using a 1" or 30mm ring to hold the flashlight of your choice?

That's what I did to my Houge as well because I really like the houge foreend and wanted a light mount....the Fab is a pretty cheap option if you don't want to make your own.

I like it too cause the streamlight has its own mount built in and I can just pop it off and put it on the other guns without having to get a dedicated mount and then a flashlight. The light is friggen bright.

Can-down did you tap your screw holes into the forearm?

You can see the flat nuts and bolts in the first picture...I cut the flat nuts square and recessed them into the inside of the foreend with the dremmel (picture 4).

old skool bump, but can down it looks like you inlet the hogue forend for the nuts on the screws to sit flush. How did you do that?

All the tools I used are in this picture, on the dremmel I used a small cylindrical cutter and a larger cylindrical grinding stone.
