Flat nose bullets M1 Garand reloads?

I've been looking for projectiles to reload 30-06 for my M1 and I've noticed that flat nose bullets designed for 30-30 lever guns are much cheaper than standard 30cal spitzer rounds in the same weight..

Anyone know if there would be any issues using flat nose bullets in an M1? I'm thinking maybe they might not feed properly?

I have shot the Hornady 150 round nose and 170 grain flat point designed for the 30-30 through my M1 Garand without any problems. The 170 grain Hornady was the same bullet I used for my bolt action 03-A3 Springfield with slightly reduced loads for close range woods hunting.

I didn't load these because they were cheaper, they were used because the lead core in these bullets is softer and will shoot better in a worn oversized bore. The 170 grain is the best choice because of its longer bearing surface and the softer lead core, and when kicked in the seat of the pants the bullet fills the bore diameter. (obturation)

Many 30-30 bullets have a larger diameter behind the crimping groove and a smaller one forward. Bottom line they were the most accurate bullet in my 03 with a very worn bore.

You could say the bullets were cheaper because I still had bullet left over from the 1970s and 1980s.

Would the larger diameter bullet give any issues in a basically brand new barrel?

Not flat nosed, but I had an oddball box of 165 grain RN bullets in .308 dia that I loaded for my garand, as I was not using them for anything else. They worked flawlessly.
