Flinch!!!!

To fight the flinch, I remind myself that each shot could be the shot on a deer, elk, moose... That being calm, cool & collect & squeezing nice & smooth means food in the freezer. That way, when I am aiming at an animal, I don't go hungry. Cheesy, yes. But it works for me. Motivation via empty tummy.

This may sound weird, but look through the scope and let the crosshair go slightly fuzzy and focus on the target and only the target.

If the trigger on the rifle has lots of creep, try not to concentrate on the trigger or think about when the gun is going to fire. Think only about the target.

If your mind is focused on the target and not the rifle you will not be able to anticipate the shot.

I think this is the best analysis yet!

"...through the scope I'm flinching...dry fired and flinched..." Your brain is being told there's something coming at your eye/forehead. It then tells your body to get out of the way. Plus your anticipating the recoil. Reduce the load and teach yourself to concentrate on the shot.
