Not so sure about up in Canada although in the US there are lots of suppliers of muzzle loader parts and barrels. Shipping to Canada from the US is or has not been an issue.

You can look for Peter A. Alexander. He is a gun maker and author located in your Ontario. Or Taylor Sapergia gun maker from Prince George BC. Both gentlemen are exceptional flintlock gun makers.

Let us know what you find.....

funny, I just bought Peter's book recently [haven't had a chance to read yet]

I have found a few places, but all are USA - Marstar has a few very limited parts

I've dealt with track of the wolf quite a bit, they have lots of stock & are very helpful shipping is usually pretty good [and VERY fast] but can skyrocket if you add the wrong thing.

Prices for all 4 sites are about the same, no appreciable difference really.

Virtually no retail sources of parts in Canada but you can often find good stuff by posting a WTB ad on the EE Forum here. There are many individuals across Canada who are builders and sometimes they have extra parts for sale.

There are no daft border issues with flintlocks. Not considered to be firearms Stateside and are considered to be antiques here.
There are or used to be a bunch of small guys making flinter stuff. Your best bet for good info would be one of the 1812 re-enactor groups.

Yes - I'm begging to give up on Canada for parts :( at least I tried to buy local...

Fortunately, muzzle bits 'n' pieces are easy enough to get across the border, all american made = free trade

at least its not like trying to ship an AR-15 ;)

I would not sweat it as far as Canadian sources goes.

You can order the stuff, pay shipping, GST/HST, and any other fees, or you can buy the stuff from a Canadian guy that bought it from the US, paid shipping, GST/HST, and any other fees, then marked it up enough to be profitable before he sells it to you so you can pay shipping and GST/HST on an all new higher price.

If there are Canadian makers of these parts, I'd love to hear. Other than a couple custom makers, using imported parts, and one outfit that seems to mainly sell India made replicas, the pickings are pretty slim.

Get a Track of the Wolf print catalog. Good, life size clear photos of most of the action and lock parts. Pretty much the same hardware as everyone else has available, in a broad range of qualities, from pretty cheap, to really nice.

Once you home in on a style or name, you can then search for alternate sources and seek out better prices if you can find them.

Cheers

You can try http://www.loyalistarms.ca/ They mostly carry stuff for smooth bores I think. Never been there but plan on taking a trip in soon. The did reply to my email the same day and I've heard nothing but good things about their service.

I've been through their website several times, never saw any parts on there - but I just sent them an email asking. maybe they just don't list that kind of stuff.

I was inquiring about a new flintlock and in the email reply I got from them they said replacement parts were available for the model I was asking about. Not sure what their retail parts selection is like but it's worth a try. Also said they have pan primers, powder flasks, etc. None of that's listed on the website. Never hurts to ask I guess.
