Flintlock Loading Issues

With a .54 cal rifled musket I can get 4 or 5 shoots easily but, after that, the bore seems to resist loading as easily.

I am shooting 60 gr of 3fg black powder and using 4fg for the pan. Also using .530 ball with pre-lubed patching .

Does this sound like a leading problem in the rifling or just too much powder residue ?

My experience has been that the greasier the patch lube, the greater the fouling. I use a home made "moose milk" which is about 20% water soluable cutting oil, 3 or 4 oz of isopropyl alcohol per 1 liter container (to stop mould forming) and a small amount of liquid soap. I don't swab between shots and can get 16 to 18 shots before I have to run a wet patch down the barrel to reduce the fouling in the last 2 or 3 inches of the barrel. A good wet patch on the ball will clean most of the bore and it is just at the very bottom that I have a problem
