Does anyone in Canada carry a range of flintlock lock assemblies ?

I was going to order from Track of the Wolf in the USA but postage was going to be $42 US and that didn't seem reasonable.

You might consider Stonewall Creek Outfitters - also south of the border. They are a Mom & Pop operation that I have found excellent to deal with. I recall their shipping charges being reasonable.

I have 10 Chambers locks, all new ... some I could part with. ;)

4x Late Ketland
2x Golden Age
2x Deluxe
2x large Siler Left Hand

I don't think there is a big enough market in Canada, for a business to carry a stock of locks

cheers mooncoon

No there is not... the markup on them is very slim, if you try to bring more than 10 or so at a time you start looking at brokerage fees on top of exchange and duty - that would make them actually more expensive!!

Also it's far easier to order all your build parts in one spot to avoid multiple shipping charges. For anyone to be able to do that would require carrying ~all~ the parts.... and the market is just not here :(

Yes - that is USD so look at $55CDN plus duty ... was talking to the woman at the post office today, nothing is getting through without getting tagged for duty any more - I guess we know where all that extra money to combat guns at the border went .... "just check every package" TOTW had to start shipping USPS priority because of the duty issues, MLBS stopped shipping to Canada period.

My last order from them was going to be over $100USD shipping, so I checked what it would cost to another US state ... $18. .... OK - checked out one of those package forwarding services, I would only have saved about $20 it's pretty bad now :(

Sometimes you just gotta grit yer teeth, smile and nod.

It costs what it costs, to get it to your door. The fewer people you have adding their cut to the cost, the less you will pay in the end.
It's a rapid way to build frustration, comparing costs before adding in postage/shipping. Gotta keep and eye on the bottom line, ie: what it cost to get it into your hands!

It is a very small specialized group of shooters that like front stuffers, and now with Goex no longer you will see a flood of guns coming up for sale.
unless you have a hoard of bp and can wait until they get Swiss or some other brand of bp most guns will become wall hangers or sold off at auctions or gun shows at fraction of what they cost to build. You might want to find a parts gun.. not sure the style of lock you are looking for. evil bay is another source .

Jim Chambers is the only guy still making out of the big three, L&R and Davis are basically done , the builders of castings for the locks are getting to the point of retirement and there is no one to take over.

Kibler on the other hand is a new guy with very nice stuff and is making cnc locks

There are other makers. Liston Rice of Rice Barrel fame is now making a line of locks. By the way, I recall Liston telling me the L&R in L&R Locks stands for Liston Rice. Liston developed that line of locks and sold the operation when he went into the barrel business.

There are several smaller shops, hard to find and I have not used any of their locks either ... You can buy Pedersoli direct - but $$$ possibly some European manufacturers.??

Rats ! I checked each one out on the TOW catalog and each is too short. I need a 6" lock plate.

Get yourself a gunmakers flintlock kit then - basically a working lock on a big rectangular plate - cut/file/grind your lock plate to fit the mortise.
