Is it just me or would a flip over ice fishing shack (in dark colours/camo to blend into trees) work good as a portable hunting blind. It would allow you to carry in a small heater and likely put a deer in it to drag it out, whether you pull it by hand or with Snowmobile or ATV. Seems to me there is almost always snow on the ground during deer season here and the ability to drag in a portable shelter that you could run a small heater in would be nice. Obviously it would need to have more windows to work for a hunting blind.

We have done the small non-mobile shelter thing but I like to be more mobile, just cause it seen lots of deer last year/week in one spot doesn't mean they are there now.

Just a thought I had while freezing my but today sitting in the scrub along a tree line.

Anybody seen anything like this existing in the market, or built their own?

Haven't seen anything like that, but we used to make a fold down fishing shack with tarped in walls and mount a set of old cross country skis on the bottom to pull it out onto the ice.

You could make something with a small/light wood frame, fold up walls with camo tarp and get either a few old skis or a couple old snowboards and screw them to the bottom and tow it where ever you want to take it.

Why not just use a pop-up hunting blind? They're cheap enough.

My answer to the portable hunting blind question this year was a wooden, insulated 6 x 7' blind on wheels and wired for brake and tail-lights . I can pull it behind a quad or truck and had my coat off the other day when it was -25. Could have turned the heater off I suppose.

I use a " Hayhouse " blind,, looks like a bale of hay lol, but any of the pop up blinds will do exactly what you want. Mine sets up in less than 5 minutes, folds up into a backpack, holds two men easily with chairs and a big buddy heater, keeps it nice and toasty warm :)

Good idea, except pulling in a huge sled is not a practical option for many hunters. Have you used one of these style huts before? The tubs/sleds need to be sturdy to support the frame system which means they are heavy and would be limited to hunters with machines. I would give up hunting before attempting to pull one of these by hand through the bush or even on unpacked snow out in the open.

On the topic of blinds, the Primos double bull surroundview is bloody amazing and I am glad I bought one. Very cool and well built blind.

Ameristep makes a chair blind that flips over. I use it for predator hunting and is very comfortable. I got mine off or amazon and it was only $110 bucks. Well worth it for winding and cold days

I have the same one, works well and is quick and easy to setup and take down. Only thing I don't like is the seat itself, I find the angles too uncomfortable but an inflatable flat seat on the back and a pellet foam filled Heat Seat to sit on fix that problem easy enough.
