Flip up sight question?

Hey guys, did some research and cant seem to find the answer to 2 questions I have...

Question #1.... I have a Vltor CASV-14 rail installed on my m305 along with an m14 doc cqb stock. I have an Eotech 552 mounted to the rail and Im wondering if I can mount AR style flip up sights (such as magpul MBUS or likewise) that would co-witness with the Eotech? Just to have as a backup if the batteries die.

Question #2... I want to mount a tactical stlye sling to the rifle as well, can anyone tell me what I need to do this? I have an ar buffer tube installed so preferably something that would install onto the buffer tube then possibly mount on the bottom rail of the CQB stock.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, as I've not done anything of this sort myself, but I'd say that you could put together some kind of backup sights. I know some of the tactical rifle folks use offset sights at 45 degrees to their main sights. That way, they can just rotate the gun and fire using those sights. However, I don't know how well that would work on your gun, and I don't know if that would affect your accuracy (depending on the distances you're planning on shooting).

Your other option would be to simply mount the flip-up sights on the same rail as your Eotech (as you originally mentioned)... Only issue with that is making sure the sights are high enough to be seen when flipped up, and low enough that they don't interfere with your sights when flipped down. I think I've seen AR's with this setup before, and the Eotech's seem popular enough, so I'm pretty sure the flip-up sights would be designed to work like this. Worse comes to worst, you could get a riser for the Eotech if the backup sights were blocking it.

You can definitely set your rifle up that way, I planned on doing the same but ended up going with an arms 18 instead of a full rail with my CQB chassis. If you find that standard flip ups are to tall for your liking with your setup, go with some of the shorter ones on the market like the micros from Troy. My guess is that you will want the shorter ones as the distance between rail and cheek weld is a little different on your rifle than on an AR. For a sling setup, I highly recommend a quick adjust two point (I use a blue force gear VTAC sling) mounted on the side rail of your CASV-1 up front and attached to your ar stock with either a qd or by using the buckles provided on a sling, depending on the options on the stock. I have my sling mounted to my side rail up at the very front (my stock has them built in, merely do the same with a side rail on your hand guard) with a standard sling loop and it is wrapped and threaded back on itself through the provided holes on my magpul CTR. Here's a pic that doesn't show much detail, let me know if you need more specific shots to make sense of what I said lol.
