Flip-up sights on a 10/22 rail

Has anyone have a set-up using the UTG rail and their 10/22 standard stock with flip-up sights. I made a composite in photoshop to get my point across better.

I was wondering before I start ordering the rail and the flip-up sights if it actually works. I thought maybe the flip-up sights might be too high when up to be usable for the 10/22 standard stock. I think that the height is akwardly tall for a regular stock. I would think that having a lower, non-flippable fixed sight might work better. I just cannot find anything out there that will mount on a weaver/picatinny rail other than the usual AR flip-ups.

I believe in having iron sights as back-up when I put on optics.

If that is the Leapers/UTG Commando Quad Rail that I think it is then you can retain the use of your factory sights. It has a cutout for the rear sight to flip up.

The factory stock is fine for the open sights that come with it but I find it is too low for any optics. When I modded my stock I gave it a raised cheek piece and the cheek weld is much more consistent now.

Now if you plan to replace the barrel you may be out of luck.

Yes it is indeed the UTG Quad Rail but the barrel you see in the picture is a 12.5" Dlask. It has no sights. This why I'm going through the trouble of putting sights on the UTG rail. It was the easiest and quickest solution other than a gunsmith making a dovetail for front and rear right on the barrel. I especially wanted to use the UTG rail for a forward mounted scout scope but I still need back-up sights.

I plan to make this gun my main small game hunting bush/backpacking gun.

I was wondering if that would work too. I bought the UTG and have it on a standard stock/barrel gun and you can't actually see the factory sights at all, front or rear. It was a good design to have the groove down the center but they didn't groove it deep enough... I like the back up sight option as well and had ordered a see through riser for this gun too so I could put an optic on it and still use the iron sights. Guess I wasted my money on the riser for the optic as I won't need it anyway.

I've got some knock off troy flip up sights on m 10//22 with UTG quad rail and they work just fine, co-witness with my Holo sight aswell.

One side note though, when I had them on an older 10/22 with a wooden stock I found that the full length top rail would not seat completely tight to the barrel and this threw of the elevation of the sight so that it would always shoot low. What caused this was the U shaped under piece that fits the factory channel on the stock. I had to take a small amount of material off the inlet-ed portion of the stock at the front to get a tight fit. Sometimes its just the finish that makes it a little too tight. But then again yours might not need that

Hope this helps

Troy makes flip up sights which are a bit lower than the normal ones.
