I was checking out the IDPA website and I notice that Florida is having their IDPA State Championships in Orlando on March 3rd & 4th. I checked my Air Miles account and I have enough to make the trip. The host club website also lists inexpensive hotel rooms......

Any other IDPA members on this board thinking of going?

The Florida State championship is in Frostproof March 31 and April 1. I have entered but don't recall the exact round count (270 I think). There are 10 stages. Entry fee is $100.00
Suggested Hotel related to the match is in Sebring, $79/night. Stayed there a couple of weeks ago. Not a first class place, but not bad. The hotel is about 30 minutes to Universal Shooting Academy.

18-23 September, other than PA, location unknown.

Is there a link? I searched the IDPA website and couldn't find any info on the 2007 Nationals except the 'countdown' on the home page.....(nothing on the 'upcoming major matches' page)

My apologies, the match I was refering to was the Florida State IPSC/USPSA championship.

I thought you could shoot the IDPA match and then the IPSC/USPSA match.

The info was posted on Brian Enos's forum.

Just got back from the awards presentations for the Florida IDPA State Championship Match. What a great match! 12 stages and just over 200 rounds. The weather was great and I had a wonderful time.

Massad Ayoob was on my squad! He shot a Ruger GP100 in Stock Service Revolver Division. (He won High Overall in SSR) He also complimented me on a few stages on my technique!

Me, I won Second, Marksman Class, in Enhanced Service Pistol Division (I shot my Kimber Stainless Target II in .38 Super) and High Overall - Active Military.

I'll post some pictures when I get home.

Photos as promised:

Me-Stage5.jpg

This is me on Stage 5. The scenario had the shooter seated at a table. On the start signal, the shooter pushed the table over and engaged two targets from 'low cover' behind the table. Once engaged, (I'm at that point in the photo) the shooter brought his wounded buddy (just outside the frame on the left) behind cover of the table and proceeded to engage other targets in the 'Cafe'.

Me-Stage6.jpg

This is me on Stage 6. The shooter started at the left side of the stage with a cable attached to the rear belt loop. After engaging the stationary target (3 rounds) the shooter started moving through the stage. The shooter's movement moved the moving target (via the cable attached to the belt loop) The mover and all other targets had to be engaged with 3 rounds each. Notice the targets are 'dressed' in T-shirts.

MassadAyoob-Stage8.jpg

Massad Ayoob on Stage 8. The scenario had the shooter paddling to shore and accosted by 'moonshiners'. The gun started loaded on the seat of the boat as well as extra mags. The targets had to be engaged in tactical sequence. Notice the springs holding the boat. This was to simulate bobbing in the water.

MassadAyoob-Stg10.jpg

Massad Ayoob on Stage 10. The scenario had the shooter in a broken down van (left of photo). The shooter had to fight through the stage to the safety of the car (right of photo).

Pete-Stage2.jpg

Pete on Stage 2. (Pete is a USAF F16 pilot working at CENTCOM HQ in Tampa) The scenario had the shooter being attacked by dogs (horizontal cut down targets). The shooter started lying on stong side with a dog 'on top' of the weak side (foam wrapped in tape by Pete's foot) The dogs had to be engaged in tactical sequence and tactical priority. Once the dogs were engaged, the shooter took cover behind one of the barrels and engaged the dog's angry owners.
