I have always preferred extended chokes (found them easier to change and prefer the aesthetics too) but have reason to switch to flush (looking at getting a muzzle brake for one of my competition rigs - brake use is legal in this category and I will take every edge I can find).
Turns of the brake company can accommodate both flush and extended brakes (they offer a shorter model for flush and longer model for extended). The shorter model will be a little lighter but I vaguely remember reading that extended chokes seem to perform a little better than their flush counterparts (something about having a slower taper owing to their longer overall length)
What have others found? Is one better than the other, no difference or does it depend on the firearm?
