Hey,

You know, I was just thinking... Maybe using an airline totally paranoid about guns IS the way to go, IF you want to make sure that the bag(s) actually get there!?!??! I mean, if an airline just treats them like any piece of luggage, look at the number of times ipsc1 arrived to a match and his guns arrived... elsewhere. Whenever I fly CanJet out of Toronto they always call the cops on me, treat the bag like it was radioactive, and submit it through some side, "security" luggage thing... AC, if they are going to charge that fee, and go through all that trouble of what they claim to do with gun luggage, at least you know they won't put it on a wrong flight...

So, practicality over ideology, maybe a gun-agnostic airline like Westjet isn't the best way to go, if you want to maximize the chances of the bags arriving there with you... ??

Omen,
what about driving. Organize a group of guys, maybe 3 and share the costs.
That way you avoid all the BS.
It is around 17hrs drive from TO to Halifax, with cost of 170 dollars one way for gas. Mileage = 1800km, and it is a nice drive.

except it was always AC that lost my guns and when I complained told me that handguns are prohibited in Canada and that Air Canada expects its customers to obey the law.

haha, ok, at least they can't claim that now, anymore, right, not if they will be charging money to take them ;)

Ok, I guess CanJet it is... ;)

No such thing as a nice, 18 hours drive. I hail from Halifax, Live in Ottawa, only 14 hours, and it ain't no nice drive.

:)

I'm with Dan - QPP lining the road with radar along the St. Lawrence from Montreal to Trois Rivers + a guarantee this time of year of being stuck behind a motorhome on the 2 lane road from Quebec to Fredericton = no joy.

"Gun-agnostic" now that's a great term I've never heard before!! Perfectly put!

Luggage is luggage.

The extra you pay does NOTHING in regards to how the bag is processed or treated other than the sticker they put on it.

Might as well say "STEAL ME PLEASE!"

Unfortunately the same thing applies to dogs in cages/crates. You have to pay $50-$75 ea way for them, and they are still shoved in like regular baggage, nothing different.

(Sorry to change the subject :D)

I wish what you carried wasn't an issue, and I wish people would just smarten up. Too bad we all know that isn't going to ever happen, ESPECIALLY when it comes to any kind of firearm. They'd probably treat a pellet gun the same way
