FMJ or CMJ

Can someone tell me if you are using a 150 grain CMJFN can you use loading data for a 150 grain FMJ bullet, I can not find any data for CMJFN bullets, Thanks Rodger

If CMJ = TMJ (total metal jacket), that means it is a copper plated bullet with similar characteristics to lead bullets. You can use reloading data for Lead bullets.

What brand of bullet would be a help. CMJ = plated, TMJ = Jacketed.

You can use FMJ data safely, but it would be a bit mild. The correct data is the lead bullet data.

Thanks for the reply's, there 30 cal 150 Grain Berry copper metel jacket flat nose, the ones that Henry Nierychlo sells and I plan on using them in my 305 Norinco, Rodger

Let me be clear on bullet types...TMJ is Total Metal Jacket, that is PLATED. TMJ is actually a patented name held by Speer for their process which is by far the heaviest plating on any bullet I know of. Some platers are careful not to use that actual name for fear of copyright infringement however it is used by some for the time being.
CMJ is Complete Metal Jacket which is in fact a JACKETED bullet. A lead core enclosed in a thin metal jacket which is considerably thicker than a plated surface and more durable and consistent in shape and not affected by polygonal rifling. The difference being that a small copper disk is added at the bottom covering the small exposed lead area that is found on FMJ bullets, and then the base is roll finished sealing the lead core entirely within its case.

The fact that bullet manufacturers making plated bullets like to use names that involve the term "jacket" can be very misleading unless you actually know the difference. As mentioned above, use lead data for plated bullets when reloading.
