Here is a mini review that I did about a month or so ago on the FMK Gen 2 Enhanched.
I was at the Gun Dealer last week and I saw a FMK 9C1. I had never heard of it, and it looked like a prohib. Size wise it is about 1 inch shorter in oal and height then a glock 17. At 469.99 it was relatively inexpensive. The gun arrived yesterday. It came with 2 mags, and various front and rear sights.
The front and rear sights are of different heights and alignments necessary to zero the pistol.
Shooting impressions. The gun grouped about 5 inches at 25 yards off hand. The sights are not really setup for target shooting, the front sight is pretty large compared to the rear and it was difficult to get a very precise sight alignment. The trigger is much lighter than my glock 17. Has a short reset and very little creep. Overall not a bad stock trigger. I fired a couple hundred rounds. The gun fed and extracted fine. I had several light hammer strikes with some reloaded ammo using CCI Primers. (This appears to have worked itself out after a few hundred rounds of shooting.)
I had no failures shooting 80 or so rounds of Canadian BDX ammo. The gun was comfortable shoot and easy to control, this may be due to the rubber backstrap and the low axis of the bore. Mags drop free, but it rarely held the slide back on empty. The only major concern that I have with the function of the pistol is the pin which the trigger assembly rest on was walking out on recoil. I tapped it back a couple of times at the range, but I will definitely contact the company concerning this pin.
Overall I am pleased with the gun. It is a pretty small pistol for those of us who do not have prohibited status.
Sorry for being so short. I only had an hour at the range to make my observations.
I got to the range again with the FMK and was able to do a bit more shooting. The above target is typical the gun groups around 6 inches at 25 yards. I had a buddy check it out and he noticed that the slide is actually moving as the trigger is depressed. I had changed the front post to the shortest one available as it was shooting about 8 inches low out of the box. With the shortest front sight it is still impacting about 3 inches low. (With the Canadian BDX, I switched to 147 Hydra shot and it was grouping a few inches high). After shooting the pistol a bit more the groups shrank with the hydra shok, and my 124 grain Cast bullets gave me the best accuracy. About 3 inches at 25 yards for a 10 round group. So IMHO the FMK is as accurate as most service pistols.
. If I were an American interested in compact pistol then I would buy a Glock over the FMK. Better finish, and more reliable. However this is Canada so a fairer comparison size wise would be a Canadian legal glock 26 to the FMK.
vs
The finish on my lone wolf barrel glock 26 rubbed off in about a hundred rounds. Accuracy was so-so. Reliability was so-so. I could have tolerated all of the above with a Canadian legal glock 26, but I found the inch of barrel sticking out the end of the slide, just not aesthetically pleasing. In the context of our firearms laws the FMK is OK relative to other compact canadian legal choices available.
If you are looking at a Canadian legal compact or subcompact pistol then it is an ok option. If you are interested in a full size service pistol then there are many better offering available in Canada.
