FN 1912 can I make the trigger heavier?

This may seem odd but I have an FN 1912 rifle that would be a decent candidate for teaching my son to shoot but the trigger is VERY light. I'd feel better if it was a little firmer for him. Not sure if it's been modified but I suspect it has been.

Is there a way to make it a little heavier? I have other .22s that will work fine but this little single shot would be otherwise perfect. I had this purpose in mind when I it.

It's got a one piece trigger, yeah?

Best I can offer, is to take a look at the geometry and the contact surfaces, and see if the trigger is light due to being tweaked, or from wear, on either the rigger or the bolt surfaces, and have a look at what you may be able to accomplish.

The awkwardness, as you are probably aware, is that well-meaning action taken to modify the trigger today may lead to unpredictable safety issues later on.
