I have a couple of 49 FNs that magazines do not want to go into. It is not a mater of length but of width.

What are the difference in mags, how many mag body types are there?

I recently bought a mag for a 3006 rifle but it is two wide to go in, it is frustrating as I own rifles that I can not shoot in the manner that they were designed.

I'm not sure about different mags for the FN-49 but I know that they were made in at least 30-06, 8x57 Mauser, 7x57 Mauser, 7.62×51mm NATO and 7.65×53 Argentine.

SAFN 49 mags, curious, the 30.06 are to fat to fit for the 7MM Venezuelan from my experience, possibly you have an 8mm ? 8mm mags fit is to loose and sloppy in a 30.06 and will not lock up, 30.06 is to fat and wide, big for an Egyptian 8mm, Do you still have these mags ?

Working on one now, Venezuelan 7mm FN- 49, the 30-06 mags are way to fat to use they will not fit into a 7mm or 8mm FN-49, the biggest mag that exists for them would be the 30.06, they will not fit into an Egyptian or Venezuelan, an 8mm Egyptian will fit into a 7mm Venezuelan with rubber mallet love taps, but the follower for the 8mm is to big, fits in tilted at the nose , I do not have a 7mm to test. If you bought 30.06 for a a Belgian 30.06 it should be correct, does it even look like an FN-49 mag? Argentine possibly, super rare and does not look like an FN-49 mag at all.

Are these possibly the reproduction 8mm copies several U.S. dealers are showing on their websites ? Anyone with experience with these knock offs ? Are they in spec. ?

I found a safn 49 magazine that looks to be 8mm with a spring and follower
Pinned to5 In my junk box
What are the measurements for 8mm
