This Cold War pistol was used by the German Railway Police in the American Zone of West-Berlin, and is dated in the early 1950s.
According to A. Vanderlinden in his book "FN Browning Pistols", only 4671 similar specimens bear this factory roll engraved property marking. I had never encountered any in my past 25 years as a collector.
All subject Model 1922s were replaced and sold between 1976 and 1980. Condition is most excellent, with very little handling marks. It is equipped with a near-mint FN factory 9mmS (= .380) barrel, providing this pistol with a Restricted status. The postwar 7,65 mag the pistol comes with fires as well the .380 ACP cartridge (known as 9mm-Short in Europe).
For your appreciation, fellow collectors.
