RE C1 Leitz scope used one Late 70`s (1979?) loaned it from the 2 PPCLI we used
them on the MCR at Shilo worked OK if I remember.

This beast is a figment of someones imagination, it is either a Parker Hale manufactured C3 7.62 MM sniping rifle used by the CF or someone who's nomaclature is totally out to lunch, when possibly describing an FN C1A2, 8L series rifle ( they were still called C1A1s even after the changes ). File this one under unicorn.

I talked to a guy who was a sniper in the CAF, his opinion of the C3 (Parker Hale) was that it was a POS. FWIW, YMMV, IHHO, etc ad nauseum.

I can't recall the No.4 ( or the No.7 ) being refered to as a C4 . I believe they kept there original designations all through there service lives .

I seem to recall that all the various marks had their own NSN though .

FWIW: I trained with the C3 in 1977 when they were new, and they were an excellent rifle then. Of course, decades later they were sort of like the Sea-King of sniper rifles.
I built myself a C3 clone over the last couple of years, and it is every bit as good as they were back in the day.

The last time I heard a Wpns Tech talking about the "C Number 7", I thought he was going on about cigarettes. But lateral thinking brought me around to remembering that C is the appropriate prefix for all CF firearms, and a No.7 is the .22LR marksmanship trainer many of us fired in Cadets. So, a C No.4 is the Ranger rifle, just like the C No.7 is the Cadet rifle.

The C No 7 is called that to distinguish it from Brit .22's

The No 4 is just called the No4 All Marks

Never heard a No.7 refered to ( In the 'Forces ) as a C No.7 . Thats a new one on me .

I guess the pdf. is the current catalogue used by the supply system , my memories about the different marks of No.4's was from the old microfiche catalogue .
