here I am with my head in my hands pondering two divergent alternatives.I am the proud owner of an fn fal match rifle.I bought it used about 20 years ago.put a few boxes of ammo thru it,handloaded and shot some more but really wasn't happy with the accuracy.Took a look down the bore with a bore scope and saw some serious erosion in the first inch and a half of the barrel.I then took my pride and joy to the gunsmith for a new barrel.fitted a new shilen match barrel. In the meantime new legislation passes which means I cannot shoot my favorite rifle.that's right, brand new shilen barrel, not one bullet down the pipe.everytime I go to the safe to get my other rifle/pistol and go to the range I can only stare longingly at what could have been.what do you guys think, sell it and move on or wait for the laws to change, please advise.

I would of had my Grandfathers 12.2 C1A2.. but I was to young to own it at the time so It ended up in a musium and the worst part was not that I couldn't shoot it but his good friend (neighbor) wanted me to have his whole collecton.. it was sweet.. I mean never fired 12.2 ect ultra rare stuff... Thinking back would I really turn it down agian.. I mean I said no thank you don't want to break the laws to keep it from being scraped now that Im older I kind of wished I did take it. It was historical and had a lot of history...

Pretty sure if you could go back it would be stashed in your attic somewhere. How many gun owners would register their long guns if they could go back!? Not many.

If it is your only 12.5 or 12.3 then keep it. I doubt the laws will ever change.

FN's are a money pit....I love mine, but the four of them sit quietly in my safe....two of them I've never even fired. *shrug* Not much I can do about it.

That said, I'm one of the youngest 12(5) owners in Canada (I was 19 when I bought my first FN) so I'm keeping, and saving what I can.

I'd love to have the opportunity to fire them, alas, without the proper license, that's impossible.

I'd pay $600-$1000 to be able to fondle a piece of :canadaFlag: history like that whenever I wanted. If you sell it, you know you will regret it down the road.

my fn fal match

mine never was a converted full auto or surplus rifle. My pal reads 12.5.it was an import from belgium, imported by steyr secaucus, new jersey.I'd wanted one ever since I'd seen one and especially this particular model.actually I like all of them.thanks for your feedback on this issue,if this was the only firearm that I owned it would very difficult to open the gun safe and not take it out and shoot it.I've got others that I've gotten attached to as well.thanks again.

"...Didn't one of their bills include..." Nope. Harper's bunch have always said the only thing they were planning is ending the registration of hunting rifles and shotguns. Nothing else.
