I know im probably beating a dead horse on this one but why is the FAL a prohib weapon. from factory there was lots of semi auto only's and ive seen lots of new made FAL copy's in semi auto only so why not just make it a restricted.

All the military/para-military semi auto centerfire rifles with the exception of the AR-15 were prohibited. The FN FAL was not centered out for special treatment.
Firearms which didn't exist when the prohibition list was created are either non-restricted, restricted or prohibited depending on their characteristics.
The whole point was to prohibit an entire class of firearms.

It's actually a good thing that they didn't word it like clinton's AWB-banning things like pistol grip stocks, folding stocks, detacable mag, etc. We would be as messed up as cali:eek:

Because, like all guns with pistol grips and shoulder things that go up, it will start killing babies if you even look at it.

You can bet there is a new list waiting for the opportunity to be imposed on us.

"...why is..." It's black, has a pistol grip and uses a 20 round mag.
"...You can bet there is..." Yep. All semi-auto's and all handguns.

And the stupidest part is that they used a copy of the Guns Digest buyers guide to point out the guns they thought were too scary and needed to be prohibited.

The second part of that from what I heard was it was given to some one's secretary and she was told to pick out the military/scary looking ones. No other criteria.

I think because the FNC1 was easy and quickly converted to full auto by placing a match under the sear at least thats what I use to do.

Does anyone know of a company that makes a fal that is deactivated or do I just gotta keep looking on the EE. If I can't have one that fires I guess the best I can get Is one that gets mounted on the wall to look good

If the liberals get in power there will be alot more added to the list...cz858, sks, mini14, norc m14, ar 180,swiss arms and many others are targeted...sooo vote conservative for F@ck sakes....

I don't know any company that destroys perfectly good firearms that they make. (Snarky remarks about certain companies notwithstanding.)

And replica firearms are illegal, so you're stuck to scouring the EE.

The army was adopting M16's to replace the FN's -The government was afraid to have FN's on the market filtering down into civilian hands .

Same when police in Kanada went to semi auto handguns - they were not allowed to sell the revolvers.

Our government also tried to outlaw the AR-15's (which were non restricted back then) because it was seen as Kanada's army rifle - but our constitution guarantees the right of all Kanadians the right to compete for the Queens medal and that competition traditionally uses the current Kanadian army issue style rifle.

We have groups like the O.R.A. etc. to thank because they petitioned the government with the above information and pointing out that they were unconstitutionally banning the AR15.
So it became restricted instead of prohibited.

It is possible that if the Kanadian military adopts a new rifle - all our AR 15's could become prohibited. You never know -----
