In case you didn't see the post in the HG forum, a few of us were enjoying our M77B Norinco HG's and wondering what a silly thing that trigger cocking feature was.

Then Deckard got creative with a paint program. Now that trigger cocking is spawing a potential kit gun project.

Will get you to the start of the discussion on using the M77B with a composite shell to make up a FN P90 looking carbine.

At this point, I am taking a poll to see if any of you guys would be interested in such a stock. If there is enough interest, I will start on the plug when it warms up and maybe have it ready for viewing in the summer. From there go to make a mold and making stocks.

Winter has been too cold to go play outside so idle minds are coming up with interesting ideas. Got a tac project for a Savage too. Should be interesting.

Would be interested but unless you have several hundred thousand dollars to to get the stock made it's pointless. Geting the thing trandfered to cad program and making the molds is very big money not to mention the production runs would need to be in the thousands. Unless you are going to sell these world wide or custom make each one out of wood you have a tough road ahead of you. I did a bunch of research for a 10/22 stock idea I had..that one made sense because of the millions of rugers on the market and the big aftermarket community. But the money to get it off the ground is huge. The 77 has a market of thousands...so the enconomies of scale aren't there for you.....:(

Of course there will be those who mock, but this should be a neat fun gun.

ancorp, absolutely!!

The shell will accomodate the M77 dimensions so will be off the orig P90 in the grip area for sure. The rest of the stock will morp around these lines.

That is why I describe this as an 75% scale stock. You will know the roots of the stock but it is not dimensional accurate. Of course, the area where the orig mag would go will be taken up by the HG's slide. Painting/detailing during the finishing process would add more realism to the stock.

Or you can just go tactical black as pictured.

Deckard, like the muzzle brake pictured. I think there are some off the shelf parts we can graft to make the front end more realistic. Also, the top mount with side rails is an interesting option.

I think the design will be allow for a variety of mounting options. Just drill and bolt on whatever. There should be lots of room for mounting hardware inside the shells.

Comments good and bad are invited. I need to get a feel for what is the real interest. As mentioned, this is no small feat to go mock up a plug and mold. For a 'Nutz' project, should be good for S&G's. For a money making endeavor, got to be out of your mind.

Ardent, thanks for you support. I try and come up with whatever wacky ideas to push the envelop of what is the norm. Been pretty successfull for the most part.

Been chatting with the BCRA guys on their tac shoot in June. Not sure if I can make it but it has inspired another project. You don't learn if you don't try.

See you in April...

Are you making a bullpup? Or does the mag still load in the pistol grip. If so, it is kinda useless as the only advantage a semi-auto only sub-gun has over a pistol is increased barrel length and a shoulder stock, and it seems your only getting half that if you don't make it a bullpup.

Giggle giggle giggle...............................

The Haves...........and the have nots....

sorry kids just kidding

We actually get a kick out of creating things. Anyone can drop cash and come across as being haughty (that is easy), but it surely does not contribute anything to mature discourse, or our culture for that matter.

Well, since you invited comments, both good and bad, here's mine. What's the point of this project? To build a cheap gun that replicates all the visual ugliness of the P90 and none of the functional features that make it a good gun? Why not just build a simple stock attachment?

The same reason people play airsoft... because the guns look cool.

Seriously, can't that be reason enough sometimes? I'm sure a lot of guys here spend tons of money on gucci kit that'd make contractors and soldiers alike jealous and they'll never use it outside of the range. Why? Because it looks cool and it's fun to play with.

Bullpups Are Illegal

:D :D :D :D Got your attention though!!!!!

Now I know that bullpup's ARE NOT prohibited if they are an integral part of the firearm ie; the firearm cannot be fired without the stock attached.
Just wondering how you are going to get around that stupid piece of legislation. Seems to me you are creating a prohibited piece of plastic

Bullpup is a firearm configuration in which the action (or mechanism) and magazine are located behind the trigger. In other words, in the buttstock. This is no different than a pistol with a shoulder stock.

Yup after a quick look back that magazine is definately behind the trigger:D :D :D

I don't think I would buy one but it does look like a neat project........and way safer than the pen guns we used to turn out in shop class in high school:redface:

Any rifle, shotgun or carbine stock of the type known as the “bull-pup” design, being a stock that, when combined with a firearm, reduces the overall length of the firearm such that a substantial part of the reloading action or the magazine-well is located behind the trigger of the firearm when it is held in the normal firing position.

-Not for a rifle, shotgun or carbine.
-How does it reduce the overall length of said pistol? Makes it longer actually.
-Not sure how a substantial part of the reloading action moves behind the trigger. I think it stays the same.
