The issue with scar is the huge bolt carrier mass because FN extends the bolt carrier to replace the op rod and seal the charging handle slot. Bren m3 is a better design for this kind of aluminum ex tube g36 evolution. Don’t think scar will go anywhere other than the Belgian army and the low cost bids like portugal which I suspect they are price sensitive. Looks like this have already ended up even less successful than the FNC . All the old FNC clients had gone m4s or some sort of AR derivative in the west and Asia . Fn should just focus on LMG and MG because if they don’t fn mag and minimi are replaced by something else they are screwed - then they are down to m2 and m3 which are basically supplying and supporting legacy systems
