Looks like Impact Guns is taking orders for automatic LE versions of the SCAR-L, which are expected to arrive in the 2nd or 3rd Quarter of 2006. Also of interest are these statements:

Currently, it is unknown when this firearm (automatic version) will be made available to citizens. This firearm in the fully automatic version is available only to law enforcement agencies and class 3 dealers with demonstration letters.

...Our expectation is that a civilian version will become availabe in late 2007. We will post any information as it becomes available.

Question for the guys importing FS2000s and PS90s from Belgium: Have you asked FN about the SCARs?

Are they going to be making a semi version of it? If they are, it'll be on my next "bug the sh*t outa the RCMP till they let me have it" list.

I'm quite sure the auto one will NOT be availible ot civilians. i doubt they were registered before 1986.

The fact that they're bringing over automatics for law enforcement in the US (and not just for military contracts) means they're one step closer to a civilian model.

It would appear that they eventually plan to do this. But everything is rumour or myth at the moment.

It's made in the US isn't it? It's not a 922(r) gun like the PS90, which is available Belgian-made for the rest of the world, and with some US parts in the US. If it's made entirely in the US then it will be up to the State Dept. granting export licenses, and somehow I doubt that will happen.

What with all the XCR talk these days, I thought I'd take another look around for information about the FN SCAR rifles. According to wikipedia articles on the SCAR, FN says they have plans to a civilian and LEO version in 2008. Long time to wait for something unconfirmed. Might be worthwhile to just get an XCR now..

The ones I handled at SHOT2007 where made in Belgium. I was told that the low volume test runs will be done in Belgium, then the full production will move to USA.
Not sure if Belgium will make any semi/civvy type.

That's a good question. Based on the volume of firearms the US military has contracted from FN, you'd almost wonder if the whole US plant would be devoted to producing arms just for the military, while the Belgian plant might produce the ever so slightly different civilian/LEO version.

Unfortunately they don't make an XCR in .308. I'm waiting patiently for a Scar Heavy.....

*eta Apparently they are expecting to have an XCR on the go by Oct 2007. If that's the case I may get one of those.
