Hey guys, I recently saw one of these beasts and I am wondering how much it typically costs to call yourself an owner? Its a 3006, seems to be in good shape. I don't know this particular kind of rifle but nice shape for an unrefinished surplus gun. Thanks

They've gone up in price quite a bit. Used to be you could get them for around a grand, now it's more of a sellers market.

Beautiful rifles though - I don't think you'd regret dropping some cash on it.

Are they that high now? I know I've seen others (egyptian, venezualan) come up at about $700-$800 and they seem to sell fairly quickly.

Yes, they are. There's nothing wrong with the 8mm versions mechanically, but 8mm is more expensive, and the 8mm versions were often a bit more well used than the .30-06 ones.

Goo98 is correct, you pay a premium for .30-06 ones and an even bigger premium for .308 ones, which are legitimately rather rare.

I havent really checked out the prices closely, but I think that ~$800 for a 7x57 or 8x57 is about right.
And probably ~$1000 for a .30-06.

I bought my all matching Belgian .30/06 for 399.00. I couldn't believe my eyes. I walked into the cabelas and went straight for the used gun rack and low and behold, a beautiful example of the FN-49 with a mint barrel.the gun gods must have been with me on that trip because I never get scores like that. They didn't even know what it was or what calibre it was.

The past few .30-06 ones I've seen on the EE have sold for 1300 or more. Given, that's EE prices but I bought my all matching for 900 about a year ago with bayonet and sling. YMMV.

FN-49s really are gorgeous and fantastically well-made battle rifles. If you come across a 30-06 for a good deal snatch it up, there certainly aren't any more being made.

Belgian issue '49 FN. 10% were selective fire. There are converted auto ones out there. Be careful.
