Has anyone tested Fnar with factory ammo and found the sweet ammo?
I have tried reloading 155ELD-M, 168HPBT, 178ELDM,178HPBT,175SMK,175STMK. Out of these bullets, it liked the 155 ELDM.
Has anyone found best best-performing ammo for Fnar ?? If yes what is the consistent group size with a min 5brounds ??
Thanks in advance

Caramel I believe is his handle did very well with Hornady 155’s…the other day I played with h4895 and 165 sst’s ..2600 fps and about 1” I will play to see if I can tighten it up….i also played with 175 tmk I think it made 3/4’…7/8’group it’s a bastard rifle …I contacted fn and asked buddy over the phone, he was an azzhole and told me the 168 gr bullet is magic and was designed for it…I’ve tried 155’s…168’s..175’s…low velocities and hot loads there is an accuracy node down low and up at maximum loads …but why destroy your rifle with hot loads ….Christ almighty I tried faster powders. And slower powders….i think the 1in 12 twist just sucks …..but when I compared with factory ammo factory was higher In Velocity……all my testing was done with magneto speed and lab radar…commercial brass and military brass….in my opinion if you find an accuracy node on the low end of the scale use it and go for accuracy….don’t destroy your rifle …get your dope and you will be able to hunt with it 500 plus meters ….dial for elevation and hold for wind …..any questions just reach out …I’d have to find my log books to give more details ….also when I would find a load and then go back a day or two later to retry to verify that load ….it would not hold or shoot what it did a day previously…..same coal…same light crimp…powder measured on 2 scales …I did a lot of testing with that rifle …jesus jumping!!!…
Hope this helps

Please send me all the data, if you can find it. I will truly appreciate it.

I had 4 fnars over the years. I had blue one and others heavy ones. I also imported free floted handguard and stock from sweeden. I prefer a heavy one. A 1/12 twist truly handicapped this rifle. I am not very good in reloading. I had couple of half inch or less 5 shots groups. In my other guns S&B ammo is amazing especially for the price.

Eh fellow shooter …about the fnar ….no I did not forget about the load info …but please bear with me …time is hard to find …with a father that has had a bunch of strokes ….dealing with a family business…..and a #### load of work to do …I’m even working on Saturday and Sunday to try to catch up
Keep in mind if you’re getting 1” or less on a 3 shot group …or better yet a 5 shot group ….keep doing what your doing ..cause that is freaking sweet for that rifle
Also if you want give me your. email and I’ll screen shot it and then you can see and analyze and take want you want from there ….and if memory serves me right I believe I used 7.62x51 brass …Ivi and lake city and I reduced the powder by 2 full grains and worked up from there..did this cause the brass was range pick ups and stupid cheap and I fully processed the brass…yes I have everything to do it…swager and annealer
I also remember using commercial 308 brass and again got a wack of different results..holy oh f&ck back down the rabbit hole again, then stopped and switched back to 7.62 x51 brass as I has more load data …and just retested to verify previous results
I personally think the 1/12 twist is bull#### for this rifle 1/10 or faster would be better …also the inconsistencies in the brass I think is another key problem…son of a biscuit as I would grab some brass that I prepped go shoot…and a day or two later grab out of the same bucket and Jesus h Christ group was #### …one flyer and 4 less that 3/4” like what the ffff!…also being a semi auto hmmm built in huge numbers the tolerances are possibly out …in mass production, like the scar ?16..17..and the 20 if I remember right fn made it sound like it was the greatest thing on earth …watched a number of videos on YouTube and other forms and when they talked about the rifle they weren’t that happy with it ..especially with accuracy they were getting 1.5 to 1.75 groups
Now go to a browning bar and it’s a whole different rifle I load for many and the accuracy I’ve gotten is 5/8’ to 3/4” group or 12 to 15 mm
From the 25-06 to the 338 win mag
The bar is made in Europe and assembled in Europe …European's pay attention to fine details better machinery and tool and die ..if you ever notice Swiss and German made rifles cost a #### ton of money..hammer forged chrome lined is very expensive but well worth it..Mauser rifles …H&K …B&T …Sauer
I think fn USA tried but did not meet there expectations…I believe it was some American in the industry that sweet talked a bunch of people or bribed some one to do this project …and lined his pockets with lots of money..mass production
Back to reloading …I vividly recall when shooting the fnar at lower velocity mild recoil and there was an accuracy node around the starting powder load ..in the middle range ..nothing to great….and another accuracy node at the higher end of the powder charge ..but at the cost of harder recoil …wearing out brass ..and destroying the rifle with hard recoil wearing out things ….so take it from there and consider a few things …as for me I’ve tried 155’s..found something that worked ..the 168’s the same ….and went to the 175’s sierra’s tmk’s and again found something that kinda worked
I bought this rifle to go and shoot at the military ranges ..his handle is tactical teacher ..on cgn ….he puts on these clinics petawawa…Borden base .. and go shoot the weekend away 100 meters to 600 to 1000 meters depending on the range ..go practice and sharpen my shooting skills…ya the gun will do it …but the bolt actions do it better ???they have better accuracy..but it’s still fun
Hope this helps …later Davide

Thank you for reply. No rush take your time. I had 4 FNAR over the years and with one of them I found to be most accurate. The most accurate group I got from 4 bullets was .33inch at 100 yards. I didn't fired the 5th shot, so I can duplicate the load data. After that I never got a chance to explore further. I am not consistent with reloading to my expectations so I was looking for factory load . Data is listed below. I will try to find the target and will upload Pic if i found the target.
OAL 2.815
POWDER VARGET 43 GRAIN
BULLET 155ELD-M
BRASS HORNADY(BRAND NEW)
PRIMER CCI
4 SHOT IN .33 INCH
IF I FOUND THE TARGET I WILL POST OGIVE AS WELL. FROM MY FINDINGS HORNADY BRASS WAS LIMITING FACTOR. FEEL FREE TO ASK ME QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE ANY. IF I TRIED AGAIN I WOULD GO WITH LAPUA BRASS. I AM 100% AGREE THAT 1/12 TWIST IS LIMITING FACTOR ON THIS RIFLE. FROM MY 2 CENT I HAVE FOUND FNAR IS MORE ACCURATE THAN BROWNING BAR. MOST OF THE FNAR I HAD OWN WERE CONSISTENT 1.5 INCH GROUP. THEY ARE BETTER IN ACCURACY THAN M14 ESPECIALLY WHEN FIRING FAST.
