Fns 9mm barrel weird.

So i went to the range today, as usual checking pistonl for sale, and noticed new arrival, the FN pistols, i saw few before here on ee for sale so i asked the guy to see one, just how it fits etc.. I look at the barrel, and it looks like is papier thin maybe 1mm, whats the deal here?? Are they using some kind of super modern day technology and materials to make them? I would be almost afraid to fire this thing .

They are cold hammer forged. Not sure if that makes a difference for thickness they require to be safe.

That seems odd...the FNS does have a barrel crown that might make the barrel look thinner than it really is at the muzzle...have a look below (not my pic). I'm sure that FN knows how to make a pistol barrel

My barrel is no thinner than any other 9mm I have seen? FN make military arms for 80 or so countries around the world, I would assume they have their #### dialled in, I have around 3000 rounds through my barrel now, certainly not afraid to fire it

Exactly. I have just over 2000 down mine. No problems at all. I did notice that the 40 barrel is a bit thicker then the 9mm though.
