I have a nice marlin 795-the only criticism might be the ''hollow'' synthetic stock-has anybody tried drilling a hole and poured in expanding foam?Is there any reason this wouldn't work-except putting in too much and distorting it?What about those areosol cans for filling cracks with expanding foam?

sometimes they're molded in,but if you could use the aerosol bottles with an application plastic tube, a 1/8 '' hole should work

not foam but on one rifle I filled it with polyester resin and made shafts for inserting ballast cylinders. Hollow stocks usually open at the butt side, just remove pad and go at it. You can also use plumber putty if you want to add some weight, I heard some people even used shot mixed into plumber's putty mix. Can't quite get why foam? It will not change the outside appearance or balance.
