So I bought me this.....

http://www.wolverinesupplies.com/details/5057/DPMS-AR-15-223-Rem-16-Carbine-Black.aspx

DPMS AR-15 .223 Rem 16" Carbine Black

Now the learning part I was talking about after I buy one!

Is there some sort of AR 101 I can read somewhere? Things I am wondering are what handguards can I run with rails on them? I read about carbine length gas systems and stuff but I need to know a lot more lol.

I want to find a good low power optic for it or 1x is fine too.

I may want to accurize down the road, maybe a better barrel?

I want to add a quad rail for sure first.

Good mags, bad mags?

Thanks guys.

If you get a quad rail, get a free float, pmags are good, hard to find at the moment but in general the best. As of now get LAR 10 round mags with couples. As for optic a good cheap optic is the vortex strike fire red dot. PM sent about rail.

So far my plan is;

1) Buy quad rail

1.5) Buy something to aim with.

2) Buy mags everytime i'm in a store that sells mags.

3) Fire up the dillon 650.

Shoot the piss out of that thing.

Oh I got ammo lol... Dillon 650 plus components equals ammo, lots and lots of ammo.....

Will try to dial in a load a bit for this one, see what it can do.

1/9 twist in these DPMS I think eh?

shoot at least 1/2 case of ammo before you change anything, know what you like and not like with your current setup first. nothing worst than spend another $1000 to weigh it down with stuff you think looks good, but does nothing for you.

Good call, just need sights or optic then!!

Yes this is very important! Also makes you appreciate upgrades. You will need some sort of optics though, a cheap red dot like the strike fire or irons. Dont spend too much at this stage.

I would hold off on the Rail as well. Rails are to hang junk on them.

Get a nice set of BUIS and shoot the suma'b*tch :ar15:

Improve the trigger afterwards.

If you are thinking of buying a rail and a new barrel....you should have just bought a Stag / Daniel Defense in the first place ;)

Enjoy.

Are the vortex sights parralex free?

usually the manufacturer would state so in the manual. Not sure on the Sparc, but the strike-fire is parralex free after 50 yards....

Shoot lots and lots and then decide. Get involved with your local club and participate in matches and clinics. Step up your skill set, too. And finally a gym membership so you can apply for selection. ha ha ha  Just joking! :)

But I am somewhat serious about the gym membership! It's all good !

Cheers and welcome to the addiction!
